A rifle that always seems to be neglected in the Vietnam war is the Arisaka Type 99 bolt action rifle
It had the strongest action of any rifle out there and the Japanese left tons when they surrendered. It's available as an airsoft rifle from Tanaka or KTW.

The ones that are not available as airsoft are all the French goodies such as the MAT 49 SMG, the MAS 36 and the MAS 49 semi auto rifle.
And they dressed themselves in strange garments and wandered about aimlessly.

Hey good point porkchop. Those weapons are often overlooked. Some that might also be used were the Type 92 HMG and Type 96 LMG, plus Nambu pistols. Now the Type 100 SMG may have been used but dont quote me on that.

Sorry to bring this topic back to live, but XM16E1's did have a forward assist and a partial fencing. The only Armalite without forward assist was the M16 (just M16) used by the US Air Force. Same for the XM177E1, they had the forward assist and a partial fencing. The XM without forward assist is a GAU-5/A from the USAF.
Whatever can go wrong, will, and when you least expect it.
